MD Jean-Max Appanah – FCCA, MIPA
MD Jean-Max Appanah is a qualified accountant (FCCA, MIPA) trained, practiced in the UK and the US with extensive experience in dealing with the SME sector. Jean-Max worked for a number of small and medium size audit firms during his 19 years in London, UK, and at one of the oldest CPA firms of Accountants in West Los Angeles, California, in the US. His last assignment before returning to Mauritius was at Ernst and Young LLP at their HQ in London.
Jean-Max furthered his career in the BPO sector and then he moved to one of Mauritius leading FMCG companies as their Financial Controller followed by a spell in the offshore sector. In 2012 Jean-Max set up his own accounting and business consultancy practice. As the Managing Partner of JM Appanah & Co Ltd, Jean-Max has built a solid reputation as a Family Business specialist providing Business solutions, Tax compliance work, Accounting and Bookkeeping services in Mauritius and Rodrigues. Jean-Max is the co-founder Smart Moves for Entrepreneurs Network (SMEN), a platform that addresses the pressing issues of local entrepreneurs. In 2015, JM Appanah & Co Ltd became an approved Consultant of a leading SME Bank. Jean-Max regularly intervenes in the local media on matters relating to the SME sector.
In May 2017, Jean-Max appeared in the ACCA Business Global Magazine. In 2018 Jean-Max joined the National Economic Social Council, representing the SME Sector. He is involved in a number of social enterprises. During his spare time, Jean-Max enjoys gardening, a taste for fine cuisine with a touch of classical music. He still supports his London Chelsea Football club and the England National Rugby team.
